The driving and motivating force behind launching of Archana Dream Foundation was Late Archana Khanna. Archana was born in Kolkata on 15th August’1963 as the oldest of three siblings and played an important role in caring for them. She spent her childhood days in Jamshedpur, completed her graduation in Commerce and B.ED. from Annamalai University. She got married to Vijay Khanna and together they were blessed with two children – Prateek Khanna (C.A.) and Karan Khanna (MBA – HR).
Archana had a big heart and was an energetic, lovely individual within the family and community. Right from the early days, she had a zeal and passion for teaching and guiding students for a better future. She began her career in teaching in East Point School, Guru Nanak School and Loreto Convent, Ranchi and was reckoned a very good and loving teacher. She understood the power of good education and wanted to empower girls with it for the betterment of society. Working with a group of friends, she started classes in PP Compound, Ranchi to assist, guide and mentor children of all ages across various subjects. She used to teach poor, needy and under privileged students without fees as she always believed that guiding such needy students is a noble way to give back to the community which can never be compensated with money.
She was not satisfied with teaching small group of students and it was her dream and passion to extend basic education to areas where poor and needy children were either devoid of proper education or unable to afford the expenditure on education. Archana used to say that at one point in her life time, she would be fully dedicated to charity work in imparting free education and skill development to poor, needy and underprivileged girls. She was very enthusiastic about starting an institution for providing free education and career guidance to the needy girls.
To fulfill the unfinished dream of Archana, our family members and close friends decided to form a charitable society in the name of Archana Dream Foundation to work primarily in the areas of Girl Education and Skill Development. Apart from fulfilling her dream, all of us wanted to keep Archana alive among us till eternity and there was no better way than doing something which she wanted to pursue in her life time.
